Mr. K shrugged at the question, not really looking forward to it, as he was never much of a late-night person, but he figured he could use the fresh air. "Just a few extra cups of coffee a day should help me with that." he remarked with a cheeky smile, "Though keep in mind, I will not be climbing any trees in the dark."

A few extra cups. Vaguely she wondered how many he was having already, but decided against asking. She saw him smile and relaxed, rolling her eyes as she realized she couldn't get rid of him. "You won't? I would have had you climb a tree tonight had my wrist not been fractured... I might have even joined you." So their last conversation had brushed his mind. Clary chuckled to herself, imagining them both injured on the ground, him having fallen a few feet and her with an injured wrist. What a sight that would be.

Luckily Mr. K hadn't seen Clary roll her eyes due to the dark, or he might have commented on it. He noted her amusement as she spoke, a bit amused by the thought himself, considering how horribly disastrous something like that would be. "I think I'd prefer to humiliate myself in broad daylight, thank you very much."

"Are you sure?" She asked. "Everyone might see you, whereas in the night, only I would see you fall-I mean-walk successfully across the branch." She corrected herself quickly, hoping he hadn't caught her mistake. She flicked her tail, smiling. She hadn't mentioned that he wouldn't be able to see the branch at night, hoping he would overlook that and agree to attempt to climb one.

Mr. K did in fact catch her mistake, and gave a somewhat amused look, not taking offense to it. He knew it wasn't likely he'd successfully cross the branch, even with the help of his abilities. That was something he wasn't looking forward to proving correct in her mind. "I'll stick to daylight." he decided, knowing she only wanted him to do it in the dark to humiliate himself further. Oh, students.

She saw his expression become amused and tilted her head slightly to the side, wondering what had amused him. She hoped that her words hadn't been caught, but didn't think that he'd be angry if he had heard them. She decided to let that drop. Her heart half-sank when she heard he'd stick to daylight. She shrugged, though he probably couldn't see her. She was so used to replying with body language, and that ability was taken away in the dark by the inability to see well. "You don't know what you're missing," Clary said, sounding sad and almost sympathetic. She was shaking her head. "The darkness can actually be quite nice once you ignore what your imagination is making up."

Mr. K chuckled softly at Clary's apparent disappointment, she really wanted to see him fail, apparently. It wasn't offensive to him, though, he figured as much from most of the students. Even being young in comparison to much of the staff, he was still an adult to all the kids, and adults were amusing when proved imperfect.
"I'm sure I don't, Clary...now then, I need to get some sleep or I'll likely mend a student's hands together tomorrow by accident." he teased, just noticing how long they'd been out there.

"Mend a student's hands together? I hope you aren't talking about me," She said, sounding worried and taking a step back, making sure to rustle the leaves so he could know that. She raised her hands to waist height, palms out to him as if she was saying she was innocent in a crime. "That's not good. Just in case though, I guess you'd better get some rest. You'll be up late tomorrow." Her last statement was said a little troublesome, and her eyes glittered mischeiviously.

"You never know." he offered in response with a teasing smirk, amused by her gestures, and chuckled softly to himself. He knew, even if he was tired, that nothing like that would happen. He had enough control of his powers to know that, but it was fun to tease the students about it once in a while. After all, few knew the full extent of his abilities. "You two, don't forget about all of your classes." he added, not in a scolding manner, more as if to say 'haha, you have classes and I don't'.

She tilted her head and smiled. "All of my classes? Do you not have work to do? I'm sure I could give you some more if you think you are... getting off easy." She gestured with her right hand to her wrist, then up at the tree, smiling some more. Her tail flicked, and she really did hope he had been teasing about the hands. She really, really did not want her hands molded together.

"Oh rest assured, I have more than enough work to do." Mr. K mused, giving a vague shake of his head as he recalled all of the paperwork waiting for him in his office. The beginning of the year was always the worst with so many students, "I think it would benefit both of us if you took very good care of that wrist."

Clary let out a mock sigh of relief and pretended to wipe sweat of her forehead. "Good. For a moment there, I thought I had to..." Her voice trailed off, letting him finish the sentence with his own imagination. She glanced up at the tree again, then looked back down at her wrist. It would be good if she took good care of it while it healed, but could she do it? Clary was so athletic, using both hands and feet and almost everything in between. It was only for two days, she told herself, bitting the inside of her lip.

Mr. K raised his eyebrows as he considered how she planned to finish that sentence, though when she didn't, he assumed the worst, as doctors often did, and shook the thought from his mind along with a subtle shake of his head. He noticed her gaze traveling to the tree, and could easily guess what she was thinking, "This tree is off limits for the next two days, is that clear?" He interjected, sounding more stern than he had before, he wanted to make it very clear to her that he wasn't playing around, even when he was making jokes. The health and safety of his students was always the top priority.

Clary glanced at him, eyebrows raised as she his strict tone of voice. He got the point across well enough. She hadn't heard him sound that stern in.. well forever really. She nodded, but added her voice to her understanding in case he couldn't see her head moving up and down. "Yes. I understand." Her voice was soft and thoughtful. "No more trees, I assume, not just this one. And PE isn't an option either, right?"

Mr. K seemed to lighten up again the moment Clary accepted his demands, "Well running is fine, anything not involving your arm, but you may look quite silly running around in a sling." he smirked teasingly, even if she wouldn't necessarily see it in the dark. He was glad that she was complying, though, he didn't want to have to force her to do anything.
